Our Statement
This organisation, Dragonskrypt Entertainment Ltd trading as The Games Room ("we", "us", or "our"), acknowledges its duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
We are committed to ensuring our safeguarding practices reflect statutory responsibilities, relevant government guidance, and best practice, including the principles set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children.
This policy recognises that the welfare and interests of children are paramount in all circumstances. It aims to ensure that, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, or socio-economic background, all children:
- Have a positive and enjoyable experience at The Games Room in a safe, inclusive, and child-centred environment
- Are protected from abuse, harm, or exploitation while participating in our activities or attending our events
We recognise that some children, including disabled children and those from minority ethnic backgrounds, may be particularly vulnerable. We accept our responsibility to take all reasonable and appropriate steps to ensure their welfare.
Our Policy – What We Will Do
As part of our safeguarding commitment, we will:
- Promote and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children and young people
- Listen to, value, and respect children and young people
- Maintain robust safeguarding arrangements and procedures
- Adopt best practice through clear policies, procedures, and codes of conduct for staff and volunteers
- Ensure all staff and volunteers understand their safeguarding responsibilities and receive appropriate training to recognise and respond to concerns
- Provide effective management, supervision, and support to staff and volunteers to ensure safeguarding policies are followed confidently and consistently
- Take appropriate and timely action in response to all safeguarding concerns, from lower-level issues to serious incidents
- Provide support to individuals who raise or report concerns
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and secure records of safeguarding concerns in line with data protection legislation
- Recruit staff and volunteers safely, ensuring appropriate checks are carried out where required
- Promote online safety and implement appropriate procedures where relevant
- Ensure children, young people, and their parents/carers know how to raise concerns and access support
Compliance
This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, and anyone involved in activities delivered by Dragonskrypt Entertainment Ltd trading as The Games Room.
Failure to comply with this policy and associated procedures will be taken seriously and may result in disciplinary action, including dismissal or exclusion from activities.
Policy Review
This Safeguarding Policy Statement is reviewed regularly to ensure it remains up to date and effective.
